“I will hunt you down”
There are some top-deck winners and there are some salty losers. There are some brain-dead face-hitting aggroes and there are also some “resident sleeper” Control warriors. Some players win by unbelievable RNG and some others by pure skills. Some player love to push himself to the legend rank every season while some others just happy to collect the monthly free card back. With my over one year of free-to-play experience, I can tell all the interesting Hearthstone player types that play Hearthstone.
What are Those Different Hearthstone Player Types?
Trade? Nope! Face? Yup!! “Everybody knows that face is the place!” The SMOrks are the aggressive players who play the faster decks and never care for value trades. This type of player only recognizes hitting faces of the opponent heroes as the main winning condition. It’s very frustrating to play against aggro players since they can flood the board with cheap minions early on and many slower decks cannot recover from that and lose within four-five turns. Many new hearthstone players leave hearthstone by facing the constant waves of aggressive opponents. But in reality, aggressive decks are popular primarily because of their use of the cheaper cards and low dust costs, so, those decks can be built easily without the need of high-value legendary cards. Pirate Warrior, Agro shaman, Zoolock and previously notorious Face Hunter are some example of Aggro deck archetype.
The Netdeckers blindly follow any decks made by some pro-players or streamers. While some Net-decking players learn to use those copied deck very well and master all possible combos, but most other Net-deckers just play mindlessly and after losing a couple of games, try another strong looking deck made by another pro player.
This type of players spend a lot of money earlier into the card packs but never spend enough effort to understand and learn the game well. They use most of the high-value cards they have, in a single deck without minding any combo or synergies between them and never able to defeat more skilled opponents. So, with their fancy legendaries, they play in the very low rank against some newer players who have just barely unlocked all basic cards and bully them with superior cards. Bully type players love to use emotes frequently and after dropping every legendary on the board they will send a “well played” emote to their poor victim.
Serious ladder players
Serious ladder players invest sufficient money to acquire every card of the game, spend enough time and effort to learn and understand the meta completely and always try to push themselves to the legend rank. They are the most dedicated players of all Hearthstone player types. Serious ladder players don’t like to waste time playing casual matches or tavern brawl matches. Instead, they target to play prestigious tournaments by acquiring Hearthstone championship tour points.
Free to play casual players
Last but not least, there are many players who cannot effort to spend money and enough time into the game but play Hearthstone on a regular basis. These free-to-play casual players outnumber all other Hearthstone player types. Free to play players can become extremely creative and learn to build reasonable decks with their limited card collection out of necessity. Though many casual free-to-play players sometimes try to copy other’s deck but they never able to do so fully for their lacking of proper cards. So they experiment a lot and replace cards frequently and eventually become the master of building hybrid decks.
These are the 5 most common Hearthstone player types you will see and meet in Hearthstone if you play the game long enough. Sometimes, it becomes frustrating for casual players because of some unfair match-ups and RNGs. However, Hearthstone is the best collectible card game and it has a large and vibrant community.
